  • Our philosophy of learning combines in-person, virtual, project-based learning, and competency-based assessment models of learning. Students will work to complete discipline-specific as well as interdisciplinary projects that revolve around their interests.

  • Management of the projects and tasks will be led by virtual instructors, and in-person support will be provided by social workers and special education teachers.

  • Students will be provided feedback and will be evaluated on the quality of their work using defined performance, skill, and discipline learning targets.

  • Students will also learn to evaluate their own work performance using school expectations and metrics.

  • Students will have a choice over topics and projects and teachers identify academic standards and skill competencies that the project meets.

  • An online learning management system will be utilized by staff to aid in communication, instruction, management, work completion, feedback, and evaluation.

  • This blended model of educational practices will allow staff and students the flexibility and tools required to meet the individual needs of all learners.

  • The assessment and evaluation of student work using competency-based learning targets will provide the students accurate, detailed, and specific feedback about their areas of strength and weaknesses.

The combination of these best practices provides the school with the flexibility needed to create success for each individual learner.
